UK: Oil & Gas UK welcomes Maersk Oil’s Culzean field development

Oil & Gas UK has welcomed the development approval of Maersk Oil’s Culzean field development. The technically demanding High Pressure High Temperature field is expected to produce enough gas to meet five per cent of total UK demand at peak production.

Norway: Statoil drills dry hole near the Sleipner Øst field in the North Sea – 16/7-11

Norway’s NPD has reported that Statoil, operator of production licence PL 72 B, is in the process of completing the drilling of wildcat well 16/7-11. The well was drilled approx. 10 kms east of the Sleipner A platform and is being permanently plugged and abandoned as a dry hole.

The development of the largest new field discovered in the UK North Sea for a decade – The Maersk Oil operated high pressure, high temperature (HPHT) Culzean field in the UK Central North Sea – has been approved by the UK Oil & Gas Authority.

Norway: Statoil receives consent to drill Sigrun East well in Block 15/3

Statoil has received consent to drill an exploration well in Block 15/3 in the southern North Sea. The well will be drilled to test a prospect named Sigrun East. The application also covers a potential sidetrack.

UK proposes end to small-scale renewable support next year

The British government on Thursday proposed ending feed-in tariffs for new small-scale renewables installations next year, or cutting the remaining budget available, if a support scheme is found to be unaffordable following a consultation.

Norway: Shell awarded drilling permit for well 6407/10-5 in PL 793

The Norwegian Petroleum Directorate (NPD) has granted Norske Shell a drilling permit for well 6407/10-5 S in production licence PL 793. The well will be drilled about 5 kms southeast of the Njord field and about 25 kms southwest of Draugen.

Norway: NPD grants Statoil drilling permit for well 25/11-28 in PL 169

The Norwegian Petroleum Directorate (NPD) has granted Statoil a drilling permit for well 25/11-28 in production licence PL 169. The well is being drilled south of the Grane field in the central part of the North Sea.

UK: Amec Foster Wheeler awarded integrated services contract by Maersk Oil
