UK: Parkmead awarded three new UK oil and gas licences

Parkmead has been provisionally awarded three new licences covering three offshore blocks in the UK 28th Licensing Round. These newly awarded licences are part of the second tranche of 28th Round awards. Two are located in the West of Shetland area and one in the Southern North Sea.

Plans for a 31-turbine wind farm near one of Scotland’s most picturesque mountain ranges have been refused. The proposed Allt Duine wind farm, near Kincraig on the edge of Cairngorms National Park, has been vetoed by Scottish ministers.

UK: Shell to ‘take a good look’ at North Sea after BG deal

Royal Dutch Shell will ‘take a good look’ at selling North Sea assets after its planned acquisition of BG Group next year, Shell’s Chief Executive Officer Ben van Beurden said on Thursday. Shell said it plans to sell $30 billion of assets.

Norway: Statoil to recover more oil from Gullfaks

Statoil reports that production from the Gullfaks South (GSO) fast-track project for improved oil recovery in the North Sea started on 27 July. GSO will increase the output from the Gullfaks area by around 65 million barrels of oil equivalent.
